The Firs.

Location: Bramley
Date: 2021

On a neighbour’s recommendation, our client at The Firs approached us with plans for a single-storey rear extension, some internal remodelling and refurbishment, and a new bay window at the front of the house.

We were working with a good-sized family home on a wide plot. The client already had a lot of space but they wanted to make it more usable. In other words, they wanted to open up some of the smaller rooms to create more space to spend time together as a family.

From shell to stunning family home

Working with an empty shell, we completely refurbished the back and the left of the house. We added a small extension at the rear, and while the goal here wasn’t necessarily to add more space, this made a huge difference in the way space was used. Coupled with the remodelling inside, it totally transformed the property, resulting in an open-plan kitchen/dining area, a functional utility room, a WC and a new family room.

Heronlake took care of everything in the property apart from the kitchen, but as always, we worked alongside the kitchen company that designed and built it.

We partnered with a joiner who hand-built timber windows designed by us, complete with curved top pieces that matched the client’s existing windows. We also added a bay window at the front of the house and a door on the right-hand side that brought cohesiveness between the old and the new.

Stand-out features of The Firs

The finishing touches give this home its unique character. We especially love the bespoke timber French doors with arched top sections, the decorative fascia on the rear extension, and the external lighting that feels traditional and welcoming.

By closely matching the new brickwork with the old, and selecting similar decorative features, we were able to create an extension that blends seamlessly with the existing house.
