Our client at Hindmoor Manor approached us not because they needed more space, but because they needed a better use of their space. Big on entertaining friends, they wanted a hallway that was more open and welcoming, and to get rid of tight corners and poorly designed areas.
Before contacting Heronlake, the client had considered moving. However, with a beautiful view in a lovely area, they instead decided to explore ways to improve the layout of their home. Living in a terraced house with a traditional cottage exterior, they wanted to bring in some modern elements without losing the home’s character.
When a small extension makes a big difference.
The original scope involved a small, single-storey front and side extension alongside some internal reconfiguration and refurbishment. The changes formed a new spacious hallway, a utility room and a cloakroom.
Smart design was paramount. We had to fit a lot into the utility room, so we made sure this was carefully planned, and we knocked down some internal walls to improve the flow of the house – proving a huge extension isn’t always called for.
We made sure the extension blended well with the rest of the house, particularly focusing on roofing and timber windows, which were designed and built by a joiner to match the existing ones.
“When we first met Stuart and Toby we were immediately impressed with their attention to detail and extremely professional approach to the work, and we felt comfortable appointing them. We were not disappointed! Throughout the project Stuart was closely involved on a daily basis, always available to chat through any concerns we might have, and ready to offer ideas and solutions when needed. His whole team were polite, friendly, helpful and tidy, and a pleasure to have around.”

Stand-out features of Hindmoor Manor.
It was important that Hindmoor Manor didn’t stray too far from the overall design of the neighbours’ houses, but our clients still wanted to make their mark on their property. We achieved this through a combination of traditional and modern features, with quirky elements (such as eye-catching radiators) throughout.
Externally, we opted for glass lighting which, while unique, doesn’t take away from the traditional exterior of this space.
“Having never done this type of project before we were both apprehensive about the disruption, and anxious about the work. With Stuart and all the team at Heronlake, we need not have worried. We are absolutely delighted with the finished result and would have no hesitation in highly recommending Heronlake”.
