Brow Cottage is located in a desirable area but the property wasn’t quite living up to its potential. We worked with our client and an architect to transform it into a modern and spacious family home, complete with some quirky use of space.
To make it happen, we built a three-storey extension including a loft conversion, a side extension, a complete reconfiguration and refurbishment throughout, and a new patio and external works.

The back of the house got upgraded with a three-storey extension. Down the side, we converted a garage to create another extension that added much more space to the property.
With some internal reconfiguration, we created a new kitchen-diner and family space on the ground floor, along with new upstairs bedrooms and a converted attic room. We also re-jigged the position of the front door and some of the windows to make them work better with the new layout. And although an external kitchen company supplied and fitted the kitchen, we took care of elements such as flooring, plumbing and electrics.
Outside, Heronlake did the rendering, patio and driveway.

Stand-out features of Brow Cottage.
A major new talking point of Brow Cottage is the unusual use of the loft space. We transformed this into a landing area that created an additional family area, with an integrated bookshelf surrounding a door that leads to a bedroom.
To achieve a more contemporary outdoor finish, we opted for a slate roof in an area that traditionally uses tile roofs. We also introduced a heat pump for a more sustainable way to heat the property.
